Tips while you wait for a program to open

  • Get your documents ready now: high school transcript or GED, driver’s license and, for veterans, your DD-214. Several programs reject applications that are missing documents.
  • Brush up on algebra and reading. Many electrical and pipe trades programs use an aptitude test.
  • Consider a pre-apprenticeship. Some programs give graduates direct entry or extra ranking points.
